I had a 66 Fairlane when I was 21-22. I loved that car. I bought it with 61K miles for $1250. It only had a 289 2 BBL though and was SLowwwwwwwwww. But it looked good and interior was like new. I drove it every winter and the floorboards completely rusted out as in 2 ft dia. hole in the passenger side. I wish I had that car back now. The floorboards were the only thing that was rotted.

I bought mine in 1982 or 83, it was dark blue..and to top it off, my Dad thought $1250 was too much to pay for it. but he said, "It's your money". He used to have 66 Fairlane GT with the 390. and bought it off the lot as a trade-in end of 67. He took out the 390 later on and dropped in a 406 with 3 deuces. He drove it everyday to work and got about 6 mpg. Then sold it in the mid 70's for $800. I was around 11 or 12 when he sold it. I begged him not to sell it, but he was laid off at the time and needed the money.

Bad ride. The consistency of that thing is very impressive. Thats funny about your dad selling the 406 car. My dad bought a brand new in '62 Galaxie 500 with a 406 and 3 dueces. 405 HP. It was a chestnut brown 4 speed car. He said he made about 20 passes the first night out and one of the first races was Arlen Vanke.
